Subterranean Weekly Notes: June 11, 2026
This week some curious things happened. I’m telling you here instead of speaking into the void of social networks. We should reclaim the internet. It’s ours.
I JOINED A FORUM
I joined a legendary forum on the internet, RPG Codex. There I found exchanges of ideas, interest in the game, and by browsing their threads also ideas and impressions. Not everything is ideal, but we can say it is authentic.
I’m glad to see that communities still exist outside social networks. I really miss forums and communities genuinely interested in something.
NEITHER INFLUENCER NOR ARTIST
I’m not interested in being an influencer. I know everyone keeps saying “you have to sell your idea, you have to sell yourself, you have to be an influencer.”
I’m not interested. I aspire to create. And to connect with those who enjoy it. Among the millions of human beings out there, an unknown number may like what you do. It’s just a matter of connecting.
When you create something meaningful for another person, a community exists. And your world gains meaning and reality for that person. That is wonderful.
I can’t explain it.
I know many consider an artist to be someone who creates according to rules, a method, to produce something others approve of and consume. That’s fine.
There are people on social networks debating, obsessed with the idea that everything must be monetized and sellable.
I understand, respect, and think it’s perfectly fine that others want to be recognized as artists.
But I don’t. It’s simpler: if you like what I do, great. If you don’t, also great.
I don’t want to be an influencer. I want to spend my time creating.
I don’t want to be an artist. I don’t want to be a writer.
I don’t want to be an artist. I don’t want to be a writer.
I simply want to create.
When did we stop creating just because? When did we domesticate our greatest power?
Enjoy what others create, just because you can. Create what you want to create, just because you want to.
"Almost. Presence".
PROGRESS WITH THE GAME
I’m writing about the kings of my underground kingdom. It’s necessary to support the implementation of the boss monster quests.
At the same time, this adds more layers to everything. Even if not everything is visible at once or early in the game, it’s there.
I’ll probably make an update when I finish the images and everything is done. I think players prefer frequent updates.
I know it’s not the best for marketing, that maybe a major release with everything included months from now would be better. But you can imagine: I don’t care. There will be one when I incorporate the new story for the second part.
I also plan to update the map DLC and the Bestiary. Players who already own them will receive the update instantly when I release it. I’d like it to show which keys you already have and the shortcuts that exist on the map.
It’s possible I’ll also add or improve in-game help, because apparently some people don’t always know how to interpret certain screens.
That’s all for this week, because I had no time for anything else. I’m very focused on this new feature. Thanks for reading, adventurer!
